Mohima Bose - your Liberal Democrat Candidate for Barkham and Arborfield

I'm a dedicated Year 6 primary school teacher and a community event organiser, standing to represent Barkham and Arborfield. Through my work in education I support children and families every day, using strong listening, leadership, and problem-solving skills. I also organise Indian cultural events that bring residents together and strengthen community bonds. I am passionate about education, inclusion, and strong local services, and I am committed to serving residents and helping our community remain welcoming, safe, and connected.

Sheila Jordan - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Bulmershe and Coronation

I've lived near Woodley for over 20 years. I worked as an accountant and for local charities, before I recently retired. Now I volunteer on the till of the Oxfam bookshop in Woodley on Saturday mornings, am a churchwarden at Earley St Peter's and have been a member of Earley Town Council for the last 3 years.

I'm interested in the environment, transport, fair trade, and the eradication of poverty locally, nationally and around the world. I joined the Liberal Democrats because I feel the two main parties are out of touch with local issues and don't care about local people and their concerns. I also realised that just voting in elections didn't change much so I decided to get involved in local politics and try to make a difference.

Basit Alvi - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Emmbrook

I live in Emmbrook, where my children attend a local school, and have called it home since 2019. I've been a Councillor for two years and am standing for re-election in May, to continue helping you make the most of living in this fantastic area. I work in management for a global technology company and proudly serve on town and borough committees with the Lib Dem team.

I'm standing for election because I care deeply about Emmbrook and the people who live here. I want to use my professional background in a global company to bring strong leadership, accountability, and fresh thinking to local decision-making. As part of the Lib Dem team, I will keep standing up for Emmbrook and helping our community thrive.

Richa Singh - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Evendons

I'm a local family woman, mother of two, and have lived in the area for nearly 20 years. Having raised my children here, I have first-hand insight into the issues affecting local families. As a teacher in local primary schools and a tutor, I understand families’ daily challenges. Empathetic and committed to listening, I value fairness and equality. My interests in birdwatching, dance, music, and art keep me connected to local cultural groups. I'm standing for councillor to give back and ensure every voice is heard.

Raising my children here has shown me the care and support our community offers. This motivated me to stand for election, give back, and ensure every voice is heard and valued.

Laurent Seraphin - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Finchampstead

I'm originally from France and have lived in Finchampstead with my wife and two daughters for 19 years. I've worked in high-tech companies, and volunteered at Gorse Ride Schools as a parent governor. I want to make Finchampstead a thriving community and it would be an honour to serve as a Borough Councillor. I'll listen to all residents to understand what matters to them, and help make a real difference in Finchampstead. Our community has experienced many changes over the years, with pressures from development and increased traffic. I want to ensure that local residents have a voice.

Melanie Cheryl de Jong - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Hawkedon

We've lived in Lower Earley for nearly 26 years, and our children were educated at local schools. I worked in a large secondary school for 22 years and have always been interested in young people's needs, as well as meeting all members of our community. My family and I love living in Lower Earley with its green spaces, and the closeness of local amenities make it an ideal place for everyone.

I've thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and discussing local issues with them in my year as a Wokingham Borough Councillor, and look forward to continuing this. I'm very proud of what I've achieved in the year since l was elected, including being elected as Deputy Mayor for Earley Town Council in May 2025 and dealing with a range of issues from local residents including:

  • Helping two residents regarding school placement issues
  • Dealing with tree issues
  • Highlighting parking issues opposite Hawkendon School
  • Helping residents with housing issue

Caroline Smith - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Hillside

I've been a Hillside Borough Councillor for nearly 7 years, and am also a Town Councillor and have served as the Mayor of both Wokingham Borough and Earley Town. I lived in Lower Earley for 42 years, attended the University of Reading as a mature student and my three children all went to local schools. I worked for 23 years before retirement for a national charity.

I believe national government, regardless of party, have failed to understand and address the realities of everyday lives. Locally, I've seen what damage twenty years of Tory leadership has done, and I'm proud about how hard the Liberal Democrats are working to create a fair and inclusive community for all.

Photo of Nigel Harman

Nigel Harman - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Loddon

My wife and I moved to Woodley over 25 years ago to bring up our three children. They've all attended local schools (Highwood, Bulmershe and Waingels). We've found that Woodley has great sense of community, lovely open spaces, and is a lovely place to raise a family. I’m a Chartered Electrical Engineer, employed in the process and new energy sectors (battery factories, carbon capture schemes, hydrogen plants) and I’ve been fortunate that my career has taken me around the world, including working in the USA and Italy. I regularly lead worship, teach in Sunday School and occasionally preach at Wycliffe Baptist Church, and I chair the Wokingham SACRE (Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education).

Liberal Democrats want to see people flourish as individuals by being part of a community. I’d like to see youth services strengthened here, and we should also build more reasonably priced housing for young people as they start in life. My own children have had to move away to find somewhere affordable.

Photo of Andy Ng Siu-Hong

Andy Ng Siu-Hong - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Maiden Erlegh and Whitegates

I'm currently a Councillor in Maiden Erlegh and Whitegates. I was a District Councillor in Hong Kong too, where I worked hard to serve the community and strive for democracy. In 2021 I was forced to resign and leave Hong Kong for safety as Beijing carried out mass arrests of Democratic politicians. I now live in Earley with my family and have a son who attends Maiden Erlegh School.

To serve the community and to strive for fairness have been my aspiration since I was a kid. I enjoy solving people’s problems, making people’s voices heard, improving governance, upholding democratic values, and I volunteer in British Hong Kong people's organisations. I know how important a Councillor is to the local community and how symbolic it is to be the first former Hong Kong District Councillor elected in the UK. Although my mission was suppressed in Hong Kong, I'm honoured to serve the people of Maiden Erlegh and Whitegates and I do hope you will re-elect me in May.

Photo of Alwyn Jones

Alwyn Jones - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Norreys

I've lived in Wokingham for over twenty years and currently live in Woosehill. I spent twenty-eight years in the Insurance industry, and for the last sixteen years, I've worked in the voluntary sector, mainly as a social historian.

In May 2023 I was elected as a Town Councillor for Norreys East and currently I'm Deputy Mayor meeting individuals, businesses and charities to enhance the lives of residents. I think the opinions and concerns of the residents are paramount to anybody who wants to be an effective Councillor, working to make sure that views are heard in decision making processes, whether that's to support an individual's specific needs or to balance the needs of more people around general issues such as illegal parking or speeding. I'm passionate about hearing everybody's views and working to help all residents.

Photo of Dominic Rider

Dominic Rider - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Shinfield

I believe freedom is only real when you have the means to use it. That's why I'm a social liberal, because opportunity without support is just a slogan, and community without liberty is just control.

Originally from East Sussex, I worked as a geologist in Australia's oil and gas industry before becoming disillusioned with big oil and moving into environmental consultancy as a hydrogeologist. My partner and I moved back to the UK in 2021, settling in Shinfield with our young son. Since then I've stood for the Liberal Democrats in local elections and am a contributor to Liberal Democrat Voice, writing on intergenerational fairness, to date. I want to build a credible, evidence-based case for the reforms our community and country need. And I want Shinfield to have a strong voice on Wokingham Borough Council, someone who puts residents first.

Photo of Carol Jewell

Carol Jewell - your Liberal Democrat candidate for South Lake

I’ve lived in Woodley for 60 years, the last 19 years in Kingfisher Drive. I have represented Southlake on the Borough Council for the last two years and am the Borough Mayor. I am a Woodley Town Councillor, but, when not at meetings and talking to residents, I spend time with my grandchildren, on my allotment, and delivering FOCUS leaflets. I am a School Governor, a litter picker with the WASP team and volunteer garden with the Wokingham Volunteer Centre.

As a Southlake Borough and Town Councillor, I know how important it is be involved in my local community, listening to people’s concerns and trying to make a difference.

Photo of Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Spencers Wood and Swallowfield

As a Borough Councillor for 2 years from May 2022, I became acutely aware of the struggle to balance council finances and the dual issues of inflation and underfunding. I am standing again in order to continue the Liberal Democrats' strong track record of sound financial management and investing in the future of our Borough. My career has been varied, spanning roles in communications and engineering, as well as 25 years in the RAF. Most recently I was a consultant with a software company, working with domestic and foreign governments, security services and banks. I have two adult married children - a son who followed my steps into the RAF and a daughter who is a management accountant - and three grandchildren.

World travel has opened my eyes to the diversity of cultures, the amazing nature we take for granted and all that can be lost for our children and grandchildren if we do not take care of our planet and ourselves. We owe all that follow us to create a safe and varied place for them to grow, explore and achieve all they aspire to be.

Photo of Katrin Harding

Katrin Harding - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Thames

I live in Charvil with my husband and two young children and I love the strong community and surrounding countryside, with the added bonus of nearby grandparents!

I've represented Thames ward since May 2024 and am also a Charvil Parish Councillor. After a decade in climate finance, I'm now a full-time Councillor and parent. I'm passionate about creating a sustainable future, and am currently Wokingham Borough Council's executive member for Environment and Climate Emergency. I want to help build a hopeful, sustainable future for our community, nature and the planet.

Martijn Andrea – your Liberal Democrat candidate for Twyford, Ruscombe & Hurst

I'm originally from the Netherlands and came to live in the UK in 1988 to study at Reading University and then Imperial College in London. After 14 years working overseas I returned with my family to Twyford in 2015. I have a keen interest in local history, genealogy and archaeology.

I've been a member of the Twyford Parish Council since 2022 and am proud to have been a Councillor for Twyford, Ruscombe and Hurst since May 2024.

Photo of Chris Cooke

Chris Cooke - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Wescott

In my two years as your Borough Councillor, I have served on the Licensing and Children’s Services committees, using my twenty years of teaching experience to advocate for families. Now a Science teacher at Reading Girls' School for the last three years, I am deeply involved in local life, from the Wokingham Horticultural Association to training with Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs. My priority remains being an accessible representative who champions your concerns and ensures every resident feels heard.

I am motivated by a passion for public service and accountability. My goal is to be a bridge between residents and the council, ensuring our community remains inclusive, supportive, and heard.

PHoto of Chetna Jamthe

Chetna Jamthe - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Winnersh

I'm currently a Borough Councillor where I'm a member of Childcare Services, the Corporate Parenting Board,  and the Climate Emergency and Audit Committees. I'm also a Wokingham Town Councillor, and a member of the Planning and Transportation and Arts and Culture committees.

I've lived in Winnersh for more than 20 years and work as a senior business analyst in the Finance Services sector. I volunteer for charities helping people with mental health challenges and help organise mental health awareness workshops for people in Wokingham. I want to help create harmony, respect, love, unity and peace for the various communities living in Wokingham and I'm a member of the interfaith forum of a Wokingham Charity. I have immense love for Winnersh and want to ensure that it remains a green, clean, secure area for families to flourish and feel safe during the day and at night.

Photo of Roberta Brooks

Roberta Brooks - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Wokingham Without

I've lived in Wokingham for over 23 years, the last 16 years in Wokingham Without, where with my husband I've raised two children, both of whom attended our village schools. I'm passionate about our community and love walking my rescue dog Freya around Heath Lake, Buckler’s Park and Crowthorne Woods.

I work full time, but enjoy carving out time to volunteer across different areas. I was motivated to get involved in local politics because I wanted to understand how local policy and decisions that have a direct impact on people’s everyday lives are made. I care about our community and would like to play an active role in shaping its future, helping make sure decisions reflect the real needs, concerns, and aspirations of local residents.

Jerry Percy - your Liberal Democrat candidate for Wokingham Without

I believe in fighting divisive politics and working to make Wokingham Without the truly great place it is to live and work in. I've lived in the Wokingham area since 1990 and am currently living in Wokingham Without. My background in construction and sustainability brings insights into issues such as planning, Climate Change and Energy and sustainable development.

When I'm not annoying my friends and family, I'm always looking for things to do to keep out of their way. I'm a passionate traveller who doesn’t speak at least four languages, but I do enjoy using Duolingo and other translation APPs.
