This week, influenced in part by the recent Winnersh by-election, I want to return to a topic that I have raised before – the way in which politics is conducted.

The Liberal Democrat leadership at Wokingham Borough Council has decided not to introduce parking charges at Cantley Park in this year’s budget, despite major pressure on the council’s finances.
Wokingham Adult Social Care is currently undergoing an assessment by the CQC, and they will be present on site in early March 2025. We are well prepared for the site visit and this is an opportunity to celebrate what we do in Wokingham.
Thursday is the day of the Winnersh by-election. It’s happening because Paul Fishwick, the Lib Dem borough councillor for the ward, died before Christmas. Those of us who served with Paul are determined to continue his good work.
It is that time of year where we at Wokingham Borough Council are setting the budget for next year. So far, our budget for next year has been through a series of reviews.

No child should ever have to experience sexual abuse. These are horrifying crimes that cause so much harm to the children who are victims. We will keep up the pressure so that the action needed to make our communities safe all children finally happens.
