A Happy New Year for Arborfield!

After far too many years of delays, 2024 will be the year when things at last move forward at Arborfield.

When the Lib Dems took over Wokingham Borough Council in 2022 we looked into why community facilities in Arborfield Green had become so delayed. We met with the developers and agreed a plan to get things moving. As a result, a planning application for the new district centre was finally put in and approved in late 2023, followed quickly by the application for the new Sainsbury's store. The old MOD library building will be re- purposed as a new community centre, as well as being the probable new home for Barkham Parish Council and a nursery, but these plans are still being finalised.

Expansion plans are in place for Bohunt school, and discussions are ongoing about the new sports pavilion and the development of them sports facilities. A great new cafe has opened near to the sales offices on Biggs Lane and negotiations are
underway about the new pub.

Of course, not all of these will be completed in 2024, but they are on the way and the Lib Dems will continue to work hard to ensure that this wonderful community gets the facilities it was promised and deserves.
