I have lived in Wokingham for 25 years. My 2 children grew up here and flourished in our local state schools. I have loved every moment of living in our vibrant town nestled amidst picturesque countryside. I have been Chair of Governors at a local junior school for 15 years and was a governor at a local infant school for 10 years. A keen footballer in my youth I spent 6 years as manager of my daughters local team. I am also a trustee for a local charity Kaleidoscopic, supporting survivors of domestic abuse. Serving as a Liberal Democrat councillor has been an immensely fulfilling journey, especially in my role within the children's services and education team. Witnessing the positive transformations in our neighbourhood and the meaningful impact on people's lives is really rewarding. My dedication to enhancing our community stems from a genuine passion for creating a better environment for families like mine to thrive. Building on the experiences of my first year as a councillor, I am keen to contribute even more effectively towards the betterment of Wokingham.

Along with many others, I first moved to Berkshire as a result of the opportunities in the IT sector, and came to Wokingham around 40 years ago. My children were born, grew up here and went to the local schools. I built a successful career, ending up running a number of businesses, finally owning and running my own small business. I decided to give some of my time and effort to the local community, and got myself elected to the Town Council and also as Deputy Mayor. I have seen what can be achieved in our local government, but also the immense difficulties and challenges in doing so. I want to use the skills I have acquired, especially the leadership and financial management skills, to help make our community even better. Wokingham has been a great place for me to live, and I want to ensure that is also true for the next generation.

I'm a relative newcomer to Wokingham, after moving from the north a year ago to join my partner. It's a beautiful area with lots of amazing people in it, and I've been lucky enough to meet people from all corners of our community. They have inspired me to step up to serve as a borough councillor and help our communities to thrive. I've been a science teacher for 20 years, and am now teaching in a local senior girls school, where I can encourage them to enjoy and excel in STEM subjects.

I also help out with the Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs in the local area.

I was attracted to the Lib Dems as they offer an inclusive approach to our society and do not seem to favour one group over another. I passionately feel that local councils should focus more on serving their communities and less on political infighting and having seen first hand how the Party deal with others it is clearly a good fit for me.

I think the council faces many challenges but I am keen to get involved in dealing with the issues the residents face.
