Your Liberal Democrat candidates for Shinfield

I have lived in Wokingham Borough for 37 years and have worked as a doctor in a GP surgery for all that time. My interests and experience are obviously around health and social care for residents, but I am also passionate about the environment and I belong to various charities protecting our planet - locally, nationally and worldwide.

I enjoy walking with my dog in the green spaces in and around the borough. I would be keen to preserve that facility for all whilst realising the need for affordable housing and infrastructure.

I have been a town councillor for 9 years, sitting on (and more recently chairing) the Amenities and Leisure committee. I have also been a member of the planning committee for the past year (an area I still have much to learn about). I am keen to serve the local community to make it an even better place to live and assist residents to get the help they need, and to be treated fairly and with respect.

I've lived in Shinfield for 18 years with my family. We love it here because we get to enjoy both city life and the peace of nature. I'm standing as a Liberal Democrat candidate because I want to make life even better for everyone here.

One thing I really care about is making sure there are lots of fun things for people to do, like parks and places to play.  I am committed to advocating for the betterment of facilities for recreational activities and promoting an environmentally friendly landscape that enhances the quality of life for all residents.

Living here has taught me the importance of working together as a community. If you vote for me, I'll listen to what you have to say and do my best to make our borough an even better place to live.

Let's make sure everyone in Shinfield and Wokingham Borough has the chance to enjoy a happy and healthy life, no matter where they come from or what they do. Together, we can make a real difference!

My wife and I moved to Wokingham in 2023 in order to be closer to our son and his family. We have found people to be very friendly to newcomers.  We are enjoying the open spaces, the bird watching and our plot at the allotments.

Until I retired I worked as a transport specialist for one of the “big four” accountancy practices. In the later stages of my career I was elected as a councillor in one of the London boroughs and eventually became the lead councillor for education and children’s services. I think I can bring to the Council my understanding of the issues facing schools and services protecting vulnerable children.
I served as a primary school governor for more than 30 years.  As a governor I promoted the expansion of school places to meet growing demand, and also the expansion of services for children with special educational needs.
