Our Local Election Candidates

We are delighted to introduce our local candidates in your ward

Bulmershe and Whitegates

Sheila Jordan

Sheila Jordan

I have lived in Bulmershe and Whitegates since 2003 and my partner and I have lived in and around the area throughout our lives. I trained as an accountant and over the past few years have worked as an administrator for a number of international development charities. Away from work, my passions are for crafts, real cider and science fiction. I believe in Liberal values, a fair, more equal society with opportunities for all, where no one is excluded or left behind.

Coronation

Paddy Power

Paddy Power

I have lived in Woodley for over 40 years, currently in the Coronation Ward and run my own business. I have sat in on House of Commons groups relevant to Irish affairs and away from work am a keen cyclist.
I would be joining a strong team of Liberal Democrat councillors on Wokingham Borough Council, who have a solid reputation for supporting their communities and helping residents.

Emmbrook

Imogen Shepherd-Dubey

Imogen Shepherd-Dubey

I grew up and went to school in Wokingham and my family live locally. I have been serving as a Wokingham Borough Councillor since 2016. My passions include fighting to keep Wokingham as a nice place to live, and a place that celebrates its diversity and is welcoming to all. Outside of my councillor duties I work as an engineer in the IT industry and enjoy walking my dog in our local parks.

Evendons

Sarah Kerr

Sarah Kerr

I live on Evendons Lane with my husband Jim and 2 young sons. Before my boys were born I worked in the IT and charity sectors and now work as a freelance musician. I have 2 music degrees and am a classically trained pianist and conductor, working mainly in the choral world. I have been a Lib Dem councillor since 2019 and have helped many residents with a whole range of concerns. I am the Lib Dem spokesperson for tackling the climate emergency.

Finchampstead North

Joseph Boadu

Joseph Boadu

As a British Army veteran, I settled in Wokingham Borough with my family 4 years ago, after serving 12 years and completing 3 tours in Afghanistan. We feel we have found the perfect place to raise our family with beautiful surroundings, local amenities and the opportunity to get involved in the community. My background is in Engineering and Commercial management. I currently serve as a Parish Councillor and I am passionate about football, serving as coach for U10s.

Finchampstead South

David Cornish

David Cornish

I have lived in Finchampstead for nearly 40 years. My working career was in business management, sales and marketing with a multi-national chemical company, with a focus on innovation and sustainability. Since retiring I have been an active member of Finchampstead Parish Council where I played a leading role in producing the Finchampstead Neighbourhood Development Plan. I lead on our rights of way for walking, cycling and riding. My passion is ‘being outdoors’, as a member of the National Trust, The Ramblers and British Canoeing as well as an enthusiastic (rather than competent!) cyclist and golfer. I believe that politics is about ‘people’, not ‘parties’, and that ‘tribal politics’ shouldn’t get in the way of working together for the benefit of the community.

Hawkedon

David Hare

David Hare

I have been a Councillor in Earley for many years and assisted countless people with different problems, as well as showing practical leadership with things like litter picking, pet therapy, working with refugees and leading campaigns. I am Leader of Earley Town Council Liberal Democrats and Opposition lead for Adult Care Services at the Borough. I have 4 grandchildren at local schools, and my wife is Cllr Dr. Nicola Brock, a local GP.

Hillside

AListair Neal

Alistair Neal

I've lived in Earley for 21 years and before that in Reading. I am an Earley Town Councillor for St Nicolas ward and I work in the IT industry. I'm interested in preserving our green spaces, improving the local walking and cycling infrastructure and helping Earley to play its part in fighting the climate emergency.

Loddon

Carol Jewell

Carol Jewell

I have lived in Woodley for over 55 years and I am a Woodley Town Councillor, and was previously a District Councillor for 12 years.  I am very committed to keeping residents informed about what's important in our area and how the LibDems are contributing, helping to write and deliver our regular 'Focus' newsletter.   I am a keen environmentalist, a regular cyclist and have a local allotment.

Maiden Erlegh

Mike Smith

Mike Smith

I am an Earley Town Councillor for Redhatch Ward and sit on the Planning Committee.  I take a keen interest in Environmental issues and love our green spaces.  I live in Maiden Erlegh, having moved here 38 years ago and all my three children went to Earley schools.  I am a Chartered Building Services Engineer and, prior to recent retirement, was involved in construction research for 30 years and worked as a Company Director for 20 years.

Norreys

Jane Ainslie

Jane Ainslie

I have lived in Wokingham for over 20 years where I brought up my son and daughter who went to St Crispin's and Holt secondary, and who are currently both studying at Birmingham University. As a family we enjoy the bustling feel of a self-contained town with easy access to the countryside. I have been actively involved in the community as a school governor at 2 local schools for over 15 years, coaching my daughter's football team for 6 years and supporting the Syrian refugee resettlement programme over the past 5 years.  My particular interest is around education especially special educational needs and mental health issues.

Remenham, Wargrave and Ruscombe

Martijn Andrea

Martijn Andrea

Originally from The Netherlands I came to live in the UK to study in 1988 at Reading University and then Imperial College in London. My wife and I have lived with our three children in Twyford since 2015 and we love the strong sense of community in this area.
I am opposed to further housing developments especially in the green belt and countryside and in flood sensitive catchments, as proposed by the Conservative-run Wokingham Borough Council.
My aim, should I be elected, is to represent the communities of Remenham, Wargrave and Ruscombe to the best of my ability and to protect and improve their local environment and the village amenities. I would be joining a strong team of Liberal Democrat councillors on Wokingham Borough Council, who have a solid reputation for supporting their communities and helping residents.

Shinfield South

Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson

I am local - I live in 3 Mile Cross. My priority is to challenge Conservative plans to build all over our green fields. Firstly, they wanted a Grazeley development of 15,000 houses and now they want 4500 houses at Hall Farm. The only way to stop them is to vote Lib Dem in these elections. I want to join a strong Lib Dem team on the borough council who have solid reputations for supporting communities and helping residents. I want to see improvements in air quality and want more trees planted in Shinfield. I enjoy cycling and want to see better cycling routes locally. I work as a computer software engineer and was formerly in the RAF.

South Lake

Beth Rowland

Beth Rowland

I’ve lived in Woodley for over 40 years and am committed to our community.  I’m a Town Councillor, a school governor, and I’ve served as a Borough Councillor campaigning for better infrastructure and local services. I work for the local credit union and am very concerned about the level of poverty that is being experienced by our residents.  I want the chance to speak up for South Lake - I need YOUR vote to do that.

Swallowfield

Catherine Glover

Catherine Glover

After a career in technical writing, I moved to Spencers Wood in 2012, to a house which is in Swallowfield ward. I wrote part of the history of Spencers Wood published in 2016 and am now secretary of the Shinfield Local History Society. I deplore the unequal distribution of new housing over the borough and the overdevelopment of Shinfield and the surrounding area. I am opposed to the Hall Farm development on grounds of location, scale and propensity to flood. I wish to see green space maintained between Shinfield, Spencers Wood and Swallowfield.

Winnersh

Prue Bray

Prue Bray

I have lived in Winnersh with my family for more than 30 years. I have been a Borough Councillor for Winnersh since 2000, and am also a parish councillor, a school governor and a trustee of more than one local charity. Outside politics I enjoy quizzes and reading crime fiction. In 2021 I received an award for exceptional leadership from Sir Ed Davey, Leader of the Liberal Democrats.

Wokingham Without

Jordan Montgomery

Jordan Montgomery

I have lived in Wokingham Borough since I was one year old and I love the area as a safe, green borough with a friendly community. I am standing for election because I want to push for more smaller, affordable housing to help local first time buyers; protect/improve cycle paths and footpaths to encourage greener transport options; to stop the reckless spending of the current administration and reduce the Council's rising debt.  I am a local government officer, and previously worked for a mental health charity. Outside of work and politics my main interests are cartography and football.
