Fair Targets for New Housing

Developers have completed approximately 11,000 new houses in the last 15 years within Wokingham borough.  Yet this Conservative government is insisting we build another almost 16,000 in the next 20 years.

Councils such as Wokingham Borough, who have worked with developers to build a significant number of houses in the last 15 years, should not be asked to build the same or more in the next 20 years.

What we need in Wokingham is more affordable homes and 1,2 and 3 bed houses and bungalows. The Conservatives and the Developers are not doing this.

We call on the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, to take account of the extent of recent development and avoid turning Wokingham borough into urban sprawl when placing demands on local authorities to build new housing.
