What ward am I in?

If you are unsure what ward you’re in, you can use the council’s my property search tool: https://www.wokingham.gov.uk/find-my-nearest/my-property/

When can I vote?

The local election is on Thursday 5th May. Polling stations are open from 7am – 10pm.

Where do I vote?

Your polling station will be printed on your polling card. There are also tools which tell you, such as this one: https://www.wokingham.gov.uk/council-and-meetings/elections-and-voting/where-to-vote/. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of these.

Do I need my polling card?

You do not need your polling card to vote, just give your name and address.

Do I need photo ID?

The government have recently passed a bill to only allow people to vote if they have certain types of photo ID. This is NOT required for the 2022 local elections, although this could be the last election where this is not required.

I forgot to post my postal vote, what can I do?

You can drop off your postal vote at your local polling station, or at Electoral Services at Shute End.

Why are people outside the station asking for my polling card number?

Our campaign team know that it’s easy to forget when the election is happening, so we like to knock on doors to remind people to vote. We don’t want to bother people who have already voted, so we use the polling card number to cross voters off our list. You do not need to give us this information if you do not want to. We can only see if a person has voted, we never know how they voted.

Where can I get more information about the election?

WBC have more information on their website, including what do do if you have spoiled your postal vote:  https://www.wokingham.gov.uk/council-and-meetings/elections-and-voting/current-elections/
