Wokingham Lib-Dem members, including Group Leader Prue Bray, have signed an online petition to re-instate the dog waste bins:

On April 1st 2009, 'Councillor call for action' came into force. Below is a paragraph from the new paper.

"The Government wants to ensure that local authorities take petitions seriously and will ensure that petitioners can appeal if they are not satisfied with their response. Overview and Scrutiny Committees are independent of the Executive and will be responsible for considering Councillor Calls for Action. They are therefore well-placed to also assess appeals when petitioners are not satisfied with the local authority response.

"If they judge that the local authority's response was not adequate, they will trigger a debate of the full council. They could also recommend that the local authority send a more detailed response to petitioners.

"This means that a full council debate would be guaranteed if a large number of people sign a petition, and any petition could end up being debated if the local authority did not respond adequately initially."

Please help to make this happen by signing the petition!
