Wokingham Lib-Dems say Tories have failed Residents: On-Street Resident Parking Permits to rise by 600%

Wokingham Liberal Democrats are angry at the Conservative-controlled Wokingham Borough Council announcement that the cost of On-Street Resident Parking Permits is to increase by up to 6 times.
Councillor Jenny Lissaman (Lib Dem Councillor for Bulmershe & Whitegates ward) said, "The Tory Executive is piling on the agony for drivers. First they increased car parking charges (again), and then they increased the cost of On-Street Resident Parking Permits by a whopping 600%.
"The Tories say they need to increase the charges in order to cover their costs, and that's a fair reason. But how did they get it so wrong in the first place? The Tories have failed to control this budget, so now they're hiking the charges to balance the books. There's not a huge amount of money involved, but it's another example of how the Tories are failing to run the Council properly."
Permits currently cost £5 or £10 per year, and will be increased to £30.
