Councillor Prue Bray Elected Deputy Leader of WDC's Lib-Dem Councillor Group

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 12th Oct 2004

At last night's Lib Dem Group meeting at Wokingham District Council, Councillor Coling Lawley (Leader of the Lib Dem Councillor Group) welcomed Prue Bray as the new Deputy Leader of the Lib Dem Group. She was elected unopposed.

Coling Lawley said, "I'm delighted to welcome Prue to the position of Deputy Leader. Prue is an energetic and experienced councillor who has helped countless people in her ward in Winnersh. I look forward to working with her."

Councillor Prue Bray said, "I am very pleased to be taking this new role in the Group. Stephen Conway will be a hard act to follow, but his decision to stand down as Deputy Leader in order to focus on strategy will help the Lib Dems enormously."

Councillor Stephen Conway said, "Prue will make an excellent Deputy Leader. She has all the necessary skills and a few more besides. I will be working closely with Coling and Prue to support the Lib Dem Group in their work in the District."
